Although she is given a choice, the options make it clear that Lyle House was forced upon her for an expedient recovery. She is sent to Lyle House where she is diagnosed with schizophrenia. Chloe sees the ghost of a burned janitor in her school, and has a mental breakdown. Chloe Saunders is a very normal girl attends high school, has a group of close friends, interests in boys. The conflict in The Summoning is very (shall I say). "If I didn't know better, I'd say I'd woken up in a boarding school." (Armstrong 39). Lyle House is described as a very homely place, with happy yellow colored walls and an expansive backyard. The setting of The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong takes place mainly in Buffalo, New York, although most of the story takes place in Lyle House, a group home for troubled teenagers.
